Monitoring Systems

Monitoring systems are add-ons that provide you with real time information on the performance of your solar panel installation.   They range from a simple desk top blue tooth monitors for domestic systems to web boxes with access though online portals that allow the central administration and monitoring of several PV plants at one time.

Talk to one of our consultants to see if you need additional monitoring and which type.

SMA offer various levels of monitoring.  The most basic is the wireless SunnyBeam which is a handy table device and ideal for home use.  It has USB transfer so you can connect to a PC or laptop.  It records a daily profile, current output, as well as daily and total energy yield with a monthly overview with CO2 savings.  It also has an audio alarm in the event of faults.

The next level of monitoring by SMA is the Sunny WebBox with Bluetooth. It receives and stores data from PV inverters and Sunny SensorBox devices and can access up to 50 network nodes. This keeps the operator updated on the status of his PV plants right around the clock. The web interface displays the yields of each inverter at a glance in day-by-day and history views.   Web access via Sunny Portal is free.

Kaco also provide professional system monitoring and data logging via KACO proLOG.  It provides error messages via SMS, fax, or e-mail, as well as remote monitoring, web access, and many other features.  Up to 32 devices can be connected.

Fronius DATCOM is a user-friendly data communications system for individual PV system monitoring. Because of its modular design, Fronius DATCOM can be upgraded at any time. It enables PV system operators to monitor up to 100 inverters. Fronius Solar.web is a free online service for remote system monitoring.

StecaGrid Connect offers remote monitoring and provides an easy overview of the system functions, voltage, current, module output, grid frequency and grid voltage, among other values.  Using their software you also have the option to download the StecaGrid system data and process it on a PC. If the inverter is permanently connected to the Internet, then the data can be accessed via a web browser.
