Wealden District Council – Heat Pump Study
Ecosphere Renewables ground breaking heat pump project for Wealden District Council won us Panasonic Pro Partner Awards (Europe) for best Social Housing Project in Europe.
60 Heat Pumps were installed as part of a pilot scheme using 2 manufactuers heat pumps. After several months of testing it was clear that switching to Panasonics Aquarea Mono- Bloc units would offer better value and efficiencies for the residents.
The installation of Heat Pumps has reduced the tenants bills by approx £500 a year lifting many families out of fuel poverty.
Panasonic’s Aquarea air source heat pumps have a COP of 5.08 meaning for every one unit of heat the pump consumes, a further 5.08 units of heat is created. This will reduce Wealden District’s carbon footprint by an impressive 5000 Tonnes over the next 7 years.
By replacing old oil boilers and inefficient storage heaters the council has seen a significant reduction in maintenance costs and breakdown call outs.
Heat Pump technology qualifies for the Gov RHI Scheme meaning the council will benefit from an average of £700 per property over 7 years.
