St Lukes Primary School

St Lukes Primary School in Brighton is leading the way in energy saving by installing 40 x 250KW Solar Panels on the roof of the school canteen. The system is expected to generate 9,170 kWp of electricity a year reducing the schools electricity bills dramatically. St Luke’s will also benefit from the Government’s Feed In Tariff scheme providing guaranteed income to spend on teaching resources.
The Solar Panels offer educational opportunities for the students to see real science in action via a display panel that allows teachers to access data on the electricity generated by the solar panels. This data can also be used in learning activities.

The project will save 5 tonnes of Co2 per year for the next 20 years, this is invaluable for teaching the children to care for our planet.

Ecosphere organised a PR day to launch the project and invited parents to see how all their hardwork had paid off the event was attended by Caroline Lucas from The Green Party and was covered in The Argus and other local online press.
The project was funded by the very hard working parents, carers and PTFA who deserve a huge pat on the back for all their fund raising work and also the schools very own Eco Warriers who helped raise money for the project.
